The financial aspect of paying for care needs is an added burden for caregivers. It is comforting to look into all options ahead of time, including nursing homes so that when/if the time arises for this care (which is usually last minute), you will be ready. It is overwhelming when you haven't done the research ahead of time. Check out the nursing homes in your area now and find out how much they cost (the only place I have found with daily prices of nursing homes is caregiverlist.com but let me know if there are other sources) and also check out their Medicare.gov ratings. If a senior runs out of money they will qualify for Medicaid care for low-income seniors which will pay for a nursing home but the quality of Medicaid nursing homes varies widely.
